For weight loss through any kind of drug patients are instructed to follow stringent dietary guidelines. In the case of appetite suppressants like Ionamin, Adipex and Phentermine a moderate intake of food is a necessity whereas in Xenical use a regulated diet regimen is the backbone.
The operational process of the weight loss drug Xenical is effective only when taken with a diet with regulated calories. A constant amount of food is to be taken with Xenical in which the calorie from fat does not exceed 30% of the total food.
Xenical is recommended for use with diet only as the drug is found to be far more productive and efficient when used with a diet containing a mere 30% calories from fat.
In an experiment headed by Professor Stephan Rossner of Karolinska Hospital , Stockholm , patients were given 120 mg Xenical capsules with a diet containing 30% calories from fat. The same patients were given placebo with the same diet and the results from both studies were compared. The comparison yielded a pretty jubilant result for Roche, the Xenical manufacturer as the drug was found to be twice more effective than dieting alone. Prior to the experiment the average person weighed 220 lbs and later they were found to lose 20 lbs, i.e. 10 % body weight. This significant amount of weight loss by an obese person acts as a further preventive measure against life threatening ailments like hypertension, heart disease and diabetes. These experiments were based on 1-2 years efficacy studies and were presented at the 8th European Congress on Obesity (ECO), in Dublin.
Most of the participants didn't regain their lost weight within the next few weeks which further threw light on the preventive action of Xenical against weight gain. |
